We built this private travel memory companion to give you a safe, distraction-free space to curate your stories, and this policy outlines exactly how we collect, use, and protect every piece of data you share with us.
Our Core Privacy Promise
We never publish your private travel content to public feeds, never use your data to power distracting algorithm recommendations, and never send you unwanted promotional notifications. Your Jornu space is 100% yours, always.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Voluntarily Provide
This includes all content you choose to upload or input into Jornu: travel photos, mood tags, on-the-road impressions, custom Scroll arrangements, cover designs, custom mood themes, and account credentials (if you choose to create a registered account). If you use Jornu in offline guest mode, all this data stays stored only on your local device and we never collect it, unless you opt in to cloud sync.
1.2 Information We Collect Only With Your Explicit Permission
If you grant location permissions, we collect GPS data to build your Journey Atlas route maps and add location context to your travel entries. We also collect anonymous, non-identifiable app interaction data (like tap patterns and crash reports) only to fix bugs and improve our workflow design, never to track your personal usage habits.
2. How We Use Your Information
We only use your data to deliver and improve the Jornu service you signed up for:
- Power core features: generate your custom Scrolls, populate your Collection polaroid wall, build your Journey Atlas dashboard, calculate your travel stats for your Wander home page, and process high-resolution poster exports
- Fix technical issues and optimize our user workflow to make curating your memories even easier
- Send you essential service updates (like security alerts or policy changes) only when necessary
We will never use your travel photos, notes, or Scroll content for commercial purposes, train artificial intelligence models, or display your content to any other Jornu users without your explicit written consent.
3. How We Share Your Information
We never sell, rent, or lease your personal data or travel content to any third parties for any reason. We only share data in the following limited cases:
- When you choose to share: If you export your Scrolls to share with friends and family offline, that sharing is entirely controlled by you, and we have no access to those third-party interactions.
- Mandatory disclosures: We may disclose data only if required to do so by a binding official order, and we will notify you of the request in advance where permitted.
- Trusted service providers: We work only with vetted cloud storage and infrastructure providers who are bound by strict confidentiality agreements, and who can only access your data to perform necessary service maintenance on our behalf, with no right to use your data for their own purposes.
4. Your Rights Over Your Data
You retain full ownership of all content you upload to Jornu, and you can exercise the following rights at any time:
- Access, edit, or delete any of your photos, notes, Scrolls, or location history directly in the app
- Export all of your stored content, including high-resolution versions of your finished Scrolls, in common portable file formats
- Request permanent full deletion of your account and all associated cloud data, with no residual backups kept after processing
- Toggle location, camera, and storage permissions on or off in your device settings at any time, with no impact to core app functionality that does not require those permissions
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including end-to-end encryption for all data transfers, AES 256-bit encryption for static cloud storage, and regular independent security audits. Only a small number of authorized Jornu engineering team members have access to encrypted storage systems, and all are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
While we work hard to protect your personal data, no online service can guarantee 100% security, and we encourage you to use strong account credentials and keep your device software updated to minimize risk.
6. Policy Updates
We will only update this privacy policy to reflect changes to our service practices or legal requirements. We will notify all users of any policy changes via in-app notification at least 30 days before the updated policy takes effect. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you may delete your account and all associated data before the new policy goes into effect. Continued use of Jornu after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes acceptance of the changes.
